Psychotherapy & EMDR

Understanding what lies beneath

Some difficulties can be managed with practical strategies. Others need space, attention and a deeper understanding of the experiences and patterns that continue to shape the present.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy offers a regular, confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships and experiences. The work is collaborative and tailored to you rather than organised around a fixed programme.

Mindfulness-based psychotherapy involves paying careful attention to thoughts, feelings and physical responses as they arise. This can help you recognise habitual reactions, relate to yourself with greater understanding and create more choice in how you respond.

EMDR

EMDR may be helpful when distressing or traumatic experiences continue to feel emotionally present. It can support the mind in processing experiences that have not been fully resolved, so that they become less overwhelming and have less influence over everyday life.

EMDR is not automatically used with every client. We would discuss together whether it is appropriate, and any EMDR work would be carefully prepared and carried out at a manageable pace.

Who this may suit

I may be a good fit if, alongside finding ways to manage current difficulties, you would also like to understand the deeper emotional or relationship patterns affecting your life.
